Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) Location: Deer Lodge, MT Department: Rehabilitation Services Reports to: Occupational Therapist Rate : $45/Hr Job Summary: The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) will work under the supervision of licensed Occupational Therapists to provide rehabilitative services to patients in nursing and rehabilitation settings. This role involves assisting patients in improving their ability to perform daily activities, promoting independence, and enhancing overall quality of life. Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care: Assist patients with therapeutic activities and exercises, ensuring safety and adherence to treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist.
Therapeutic Techniques: Implement various treatment modalities such as fine motor skills training, adaptive equipment usage, and sensory integration techniques.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient progress, treatment outcomes, and any changes in the patient’s condition.
Collaboration: Work closely with interdisciplinary teams, including nursing staff, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
Education: Educate patients and their families about therapeutic activities, home exercises, and adaptive techniques to enhance daily living skills.
Equipment Management: Assist in the selection and maintenance of adaptive equipment and materials used in therapy sessions.
Patient Assessment: Participate in initial patient assessments and contribute to the development of individualized treatment plans under the direction of the Occupational Therapist.
Compliance: Adhere to all facility policies and procedures, as well as local, state, and federal regulations regarding patient care and safety.
Qualifications:
Education: Associate’s degree from an accredited occupational therapy assistant program.
Certification: Current certification as a COTA by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) and a valid state license (if required).
Experience: Previous experience in a nursing or rehabilitation setting preferred, but not mandatory.
Skills:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Knowledge of therapeutic practices and interventions.
Proficiency in documentation and electronic health record systems.
