Construction Permit Coordinator (2024-8407)

Overview:
Cox Communication is searching for a talented Construction Permit Coordinator in Phoenix or Tuscon, AZ! The Construction Permit Coordinator will prepare, submit, review, and redline permits, and construct, repair, and inspect Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC) networks. Key duties include coordinating with utilities for permits and service issues, performing field engineering, and ensuring cost-effective design solutions. The role also involves managing contractor work, obtaining permits and access agreements, and collaborating on joint trench projects. The specialist will handle budget management, cost estimation, serviceability verification, and customer interactions. Collaboration with design and engineering teams is essential for allocating fiber needs.

This is a 12-month W2 contract assignment with the opportunity for contract extension or to transition to a permanent, full-time role based on performance and business needs.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities of the Construction Permit Coordinator:
  • Preparing & Submitting Permits to Entities or Reviewing/Redlining Permits for Entities
  • Constructs, builds, repairs, and inspects Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC) networks to provide voice, video, and data to residential and commercial customers
  • Coordinates with other utilities for permits, joint trench, pole applications, and service issues
  • Performs field engineering of proposed projects and ensures alternative routing delivers the most cost effective design for construction
  • Coordinates contractor work and make-ready, obtains permits and access or ROW agreements, distributes design prints and other necessary working documents
  • Negotiates and approves design or construction changes
  • Researches and reviews plans, gathers necessary data and listing material requirements for project
  • Coordinates with public works personnel, developers, commercial customers, building owners, and utilities on joint trench projects
  • Participates in managing and estimating revenue forecasts, material planning, capital and expense budgets
  • Estimates construction costs, prepares budgets, and tracks expenses
  • Verifies serviceability, surveys proposed service routing, and estimates material, construction, and labor costs
  • Initiates customer contacts, secures access or ROW agreements, completes route designs, and takes necessary steps to meet customer needs
  • Works closely with design and engineering teams to select and allocate fiber needs and requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualifications of the Construction Permit Coordinator:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • A minimum of 2-5+ years of experience in a related field
  • Experience with Auto CAD is required
  • Experience reading and interpreting civil drawings; including stationing and aerial/undergroun utility symbology
  • Experience or understanding of basic underground utility construction design and practices
  • Project management experience and/or skills
  • Strong relationship building skills both internally and externally
  • Administrative experience required
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and stay focused in a fast past environment as well as remotely
  • Must possess a reliable vehicle
