Construction Manager – Red Dog Mine, AK – Rotational
Job Description Reporting to a Project Manager, the Construction Manager is accountable for creating value and mitigating risks associated with construction work in the Project Development Group’s Aktiġiruq and Aŋarraaq Access Road (AAAR) project. The Construction Manager is accountable in the field execution of the project.. The key focus area for this role is to support safe and timely delivery of assigned construction scope, which includes planning, organization and mobilization of resources to meet the project goals and in accordance with the agreed construction execution strategy and construction management plans. The Construction Manager collaborates with members of the project, functional and operational leadership teams in successfully demonstrating commitment to safety and sustainability by identifying opportunities to reduce hazard exposure to people and the environment during construction. To be successful, we are looking for someone with strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing shifting priorities in a timely and efficient manner. Responsibilities
Promote a safe, respectful and environmentally responsible worksite.
Ensure that the site safety and security procedures and project work rules are implemented and that contractors comply with established Teck safety standards.
Implementing the construction management plan, the quality management plan and the contractual agreement in assigned areas during assigned shift
Support construction contractors, through monitoring performance, taking or recommending correctives actions, reporting status, escalating issues, and facilitating communication.
Manage contractors involved with and resolve daily issues related to execution, safety, environmental, construction and other issues that arise daily.
Monitor construction activities against the construction plan and contract conditions and with the support of staff and contractor input, providing timely reporting on progress, cost and schedule.
Facilitate and coordinate work among contractors, operational personnel and others contributing to the effort. Providing clear and firm direction, decision-making and leadership to the construction team.
Maintain quality of work in accordance with the quality management plan and the standards as specified in the design documents.
Contribute to QA/QC during construction and final testing, in accordance with established QA/QC practices and in alignment with industry best practices, to facilitate seamless turnover of completed facilities.
Attending toolbox safety meetings by the Contractor and providing information and feedback to the work force.
Is responsible for successful completion of major projects.
This position has supervisory responsibilities.
Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success also may be assigned.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Minimum fifteen (15) years experience in successful delivery of major brownfield and greenfield projects for the resource industry.
Knowledge of Accounting software; Contact Management systems; Database software; Design software; Development software; Internet software; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under company vehicle insurance policy.
