Connection/Site Coordinator

Job Title: Connection/Site Coordinator
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:30am-6pm. During school year; 8 hour shifts between 6am-6pm during summer.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Connection/Site Coordinator works 40 hours a week (school year) and 40 hours a week (summer) at one of our Sioux Falls Elementary schools. After school hours of operation are Monday-Friday from 2:45pm-6pm, with additional planning hours available. The Connection/Site Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the health, safety and well-being of children in the program by providing close supervision of all activities. The Connection/Site Coordinator is responsible for developing and maintaining positive relationships with the school staff, parents, and community members.
Responsibilities:
As the Connection/Site Coordinator for our program, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of daily activities and programs. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Overseeing the coordination of school events, meetings, and activities to promote student engagement and parental involvement.
  • Collaborating with teachers, staff, and parents to enhance communication and foster a positive school environment.
  • Managing administrative tasks such as student attendance, records, and data entry.
  • Implementing and monitoring safety protocols to ensure the well-being of students and staff.
  • Coordinating and supporting extracurricular activities, field trips, and special projects.
  • Serving as a liaison between school leadership, parents, and the broader community.
  • Supporting the implementation of educational initiatives and school improvement plans.
Individual Student Support
1. Work closely with school faculty and staff to determine students in need of support
and what support and interventions they need during school day and out of school
time hours.

2. Provide regular support to students and families in:
  • improving attendance
  • meeting basic student and family needs (clothing, food, etc)
  • providing social-emotional support
  • connecting the student to needed tutoring and other forms of academic assistance
3. Collect, report, and analyze student data to track student progress.
4. Coordinate services in response to student and family needs (individual and family);
Ensure that our highest risk student population needs are addressed.

5. Support student transition times (e.g. from grade-to-grade and school-to-school)
Expanded Learning Opportunities
1. Work in collaboration with afterschool and summer providers in the implementation
of programming.

2. Coordinate opportunities for program enhancements within the afterschool and
summer program.

3. Oversee regular communication meetings between the school day and afterschool
staff

4. Identify and provide support for students needing academic enrichment (e.g.
tutoring)

5. May be required to provide direct care during school day or out-of-school time hours.
Family & Community Engagement
1. Connect in meaningful ways with families through various means to ensure their
voices are heard and needs are being identified and met.

2. Lead or participate in family engagement events with the school and community
partners.

3. Coordinate educational opportunities for the family related to academics, basic life
skills or other identified needs.

Integrated Student Supports
1. Build strong relationships with school partners and diverse community stakeholders,
and identify opportunities for them to align services critical to school and community
needs with student populations.

2. Gather, analyze, and use data to inform decisions and keep meetings results-focused.
3. Assist in the coordination of mentoring programs to enhance student outcomes.
Collaborative Leadership
1. Set and work toward goals in collaboration with agency, school principal and other
key stakeholders.

2. Collaborate regularly with agency and school leadership and staff.
3. Participate in agency, school, and community leadership teams/meetings.
4. Provide collaborative and timely communication to appropriate partners.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Applicant must meet one of the following requirements in bold:
  • CDA
  • 2+ Child-Care/After School Care background required
  • Degree in related field
  • CPR/AED Certification (Must obtain with first 30 days of employment)
  • Desire to take an active role in planning and implementing programing for School-aged children
  • Previous experience in an School Age Care setting or similar experience with school age children preferred
  • Previous Supervisory experience preferred
