Compliance & Support Specialist

Compliance and Support Specialist Chevron - Pascagoula, MS
Job Summary
The primary focus of this position is the safe and efficient management of system N (Demineralizers, Water Treatment & Wastewater) as well as managing the Environmental Compliance requirements of the plant. This position will also serve as a back-up in the management of our storeroom area.
The primary job functions will include:
Water Chemist
  • Work with Plant Operations to manage demineralizer operations with a goal of ensuring reliability, keeping feedwater and steam parameters within specifications, and reducing the cost per gallon of feedwater produced
  • Make prudent decisions on both the short and long term maintenance needs of System N equipment, keeping safety and equipment reliability a top priority.
  • Manage System N budget, as well as any associated O&M projects
  • Report on Water Chemistry parameters monthly
  • Manage chemical product and analyzer maintenance contracts
Environmental Specialist
  • Serve as the site environmental specialist
  • Manage the environmental equipment testing & monitoring requirements for all Units
  • Manage the Stormwater Pollution Prevention (SWPP) program
  • Manage all hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams
  • Complete all required compliance self-audits and document appropriately in Maximo
  • Manage Haz Com program to include onsite chemical inventory
  • Manage announced and unannounced state, federal and internal audits
Materials Specialist Support (Back-Up)
  • Process purchase & service requisitions
  • Locate materials required for the support of the units
  • Process & approve invoices in Oracle
  • Perform contractor orientations as needed
Job Requirements
  • BS Degree in Chemistry or other field of science with a minimum of 25 quarter hours or 15 semester hours of Chemistry highly desired or equivalent work experience.
Experience, Knowledge, & Skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems, read and understand schematic diagrams, and identify water process problems is required
  • Experience working with water chemistry analyzers and interpreting the data is required
  • Working knowledge of plant operations and equipment preferred
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations (air), preferred.
  • Knowledge of material management and inventory fundamentals, preferred.
  • Effective problem solving and analytical skills
