Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
1. Prepare chick transport vehicles to receive up to 115,200 newly hatched chicks. Ensure environmental requirements of temperature and air flow are within specs prior to loading.
2. Navigate a safe and cost-efficient route to Perdue contract farms, located primarily in North and South Carolina, but could be throughout the southeast region of the US. The goal is to get the chicks to the farm as quickly and safely as possible.
3. Perform routine, minor maintenance and sanitation of transportation vehicles.
4. Monitor, record and report on farm conditions at the time of delivery.
5. Maintain FMCSA safe driving requirements, including but not limited to Hours of Service and Driver’s Logs.
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
In a stationary or moving position on a wet or moist, or dry or dusty, or dirty, or greasy floor with metal or plastic grating surface. Longest time in a single interval is 4 hours. Must have the ability to climb stairs, upon equipment, tractor and trailer, catwalks and work from various ladders. Exposure to work in varying seasonal temperatures, with Ambient and dry humidity. Noise exposure level of >110 d B. Light intensity range of <50 ft to 100 ft. candles. Bending, twisting, lifting, reaching, sitting, and grasping varies in repetitions, distance, degrees, angle, weight, height, longest interval of time, objects grasped and body positions depends upon the task being performed and/ or the hand tools being used. Must be able to lift and control weights up to 10 pounds. Must be able to bend down and maintain a kneeling position. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions. Exposure to <50ppm of chlorinated water, >5 PPM of ammonia vapors, caustic detergents, lubricating oils and other chemicals found in a live poultry processing operation. Personal protective equipment /devices as required by Perdue.
