This is a Part-Time Position:
Part-time employees are paid hourly, the monthly salary will be prorated (the salary range listed in the job announcement applies to full-time positions). Part-time employees are eligible for benefits and holiday pay on a prorated basis, according to their work schedule.

Summary of Duties
As an employee working within the
Child Welfare Program

that will support children and young adults to be safer, healthier, experience less trauma and achieve a greater well-being.
As a Certification Worker, you will:
  • Recruit and engage diverse caregivers, resource parents, and adoptive parents from various ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Develop and execute a local recruitment plan and outreach efforts to identify potential resource parents.
  • Review and prepare family home studies and summaries for adoption committees; ensure pre-adoptive families are ready for placement.
  • Provide ongoing support and training to adoptive families, including facilitating mentorship and managing Placement Support Plans.
  • Assess and monitor the safety and suitability of pre-adoptive families, and handle documentation and case reports.
  • Present training sessions on Child Welfare Foundations and coordinate annual training plans.
  • Attend relevant meetings, conferences, and court hearings; represent Child Welfare and maintain communication with stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree in human services or a field related to human service, or
  • A bachelor’s degree unrelated to Human Services and either:
    • One year of Human Services related experience, or
    • Completion of coursework equivalent to certification consistent with Oregon Caseworker Competency, or
  • An associate degree and either:
    • Two years of Human Services related experience, or
    • One year of Human Services related experience and related training, coursework, or certification consistent with Oregon Caseworker Competency.
Essential Attributes
We are looking for candidates with:
  • Experience conducting interviews, investigations, or formal reviews to assess compliance with standards, policies, regulations, or laws.
  • Experience formulating lengthy documents or reports that include a conclusion and recommended action.
  • Knowledge or experience with crisis intervention, conflict resolution techniques, or behavior management techniques.
  • Experience communicating effectively both verbally and in writing complex technical and legal information to people with diverse education, language, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Experience utilizing time management skills to meet mandated deadlines.
  • Knowledge of Child Welfare Vision for Transformation, policies, procedures, and experience working with the Oregon Safety Model.

Working Conditions
  • Your work will be conducted in offices, participant's homes, and other community sites.
  • Occasional travel is required for attending meetings, trainings, transporting children, and other case related activities.
  • This is a part-time position. Employee’s work schedule will be Monday (8 hours), Tuesday (8 hours), and Thursday (4hours). There may be some flexibility in days and times and will be finalized upon hire.
  • You may interact with a wide range of people including some who have experienced trauma, exhibit challenges in controlling their emotions.
  • Individual will have frequent activity including, climbing stairs, walking on uneven terrain, and transporting of files.
  • May require sitting or standing at a terminal and using a computer and telephone for prolonged periods of the workday.

  • The Oregon Department of Human Services does not offer visa sponsorship. Within three days of hire, you will be required to complete the US Department of Homeland Security’s I-9 form confirming authorization to work in the United States. ODHS will use E-Verify to confirm that you are authorized to work in the United States.
  • Finalists must be cleared by the FBI Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) through a fingerprint-based criminal records check.
  • A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record are required for this position.
