Camp Ranger

Position Overview
Camp Ranger is a key member of the Lincoln Heritage Council Properties team. The role is responsible for leading the year-round maintenance, health and safety, security and customer service at Pfeffer Scout Reservation in Benton, Kentucky. This includes a fleet of 25’ and 14’ sailboats, motorboats, personal watercraft, canoes, kayaks, etc. The property is 400 acres with over a mile of Kentucky Lake shoreline.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure all physical property and equipment is maintained in operational condition and good appearance, being particularly alert to conditions which could affect health, safety, sanitation and good organization of the camp.
  • This property is home to Aqua Base offering programs with 25’ sailboats, motorboats, personal watercraft, etc. Boat maintenance experience is required.
  • Develop and follow project schedules for regular inspections to determine essential repairs, routine maintenance, operational procedures and ordering supplies as approved by supervisor.
  • Maintain electronic records and documentation repairs and construction.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all internal and external stakeholders who use the property.
  • Maintain positive relationships with local officials, adjoining landowners and neighboring communities.
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Boat maintenance experience is required.
  • Technical college education is preferred. Facilities management experience is preferred.
Qualifications
  • Physical requirements include reaching, standing, walking, pulling, twisting, pushing equipment, bending, hearing, stretching, grasping, lifting, repetitive motions, computer keyboarding.
  • Frequent lifting of equipment up to 100 pounds; employees are expected to work with others to safely lift heavy items.
  • Must maintain current driver’s license and be insurable by the council’s property and casualty insurance company.
  • This position is exposed to all weather environmental conditions.
  • This position requires the employees to work long, irregular hours when needed, including early mornings, evenings and weekends as demanded by workload.
  • Must have the ability to perform a variety of maintenance skills with specialized capability in at least one technical skill and basic mechanical/boat knowledge.
  • Basic knowledge of computers (Windows, Microsoft Office) and use of email and the internet.
  • Detail oriented, adaptable, organized and able to successfully manage multiple projects and tasks.
  • Humble with an ability to learn.

Compensation Package: up to $58,000 plus BSA benefits
Salary Range: $38,000-$42,000
On-site housing and utilities provided valued at $12,000/year. 3,880 sq. ft. home inc. basement
Cell phone reimbursement, laptop, and local transportation provided valued at $4,000/year Plus BSA Benefits: medical, dental, vision, retirement, life insurance, etc.
