Business Development Manager

Wapiti is currently seeking a Business Development Manager. This is a full-time position Monday-Friday with some periodic after-hours or weekend work and limited travel.
The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving the company’s growth by identifying, developing, and executing strategic business opportunities. This role requires an adaptable thinker with a strong business acumen, who can effectively translate the company’s goals into actionable plans. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in business development, exceptional leadership skills, and have a strong understanding of the healthcare industry allowing them to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders. The position involves collaborating across departments within Wapiti to ensure alignment with the company’s strategic goals while identifying new markets, partnerships, and growth opportunities.
Essential Functions:
  • Strategic Leadership
    • Communicates sound financial and business recommendations to create a comprehensive business development strategy in collaboration with the VP of Sales.
    • Develop and implement goals/plans/processes aligned with the business development strategy.
    • Identify and prioritize target markets, clients, and opportunities to expand the company’s footprint in line with company objectives.
    • Lead market analysis and competitive research to inform strategies and identify emerging trends.
  • Client Acquisition and Relationship Management
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including healthcare organizations, hospital systems, and potential clients.
    • Negotiate and close new business deals, ensuring contracts meet company standards and profitability goals.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to customize solutions that meet client needs and expectations.
    • Maintain company software systems in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Revenue Growth and Financial Management
    • Drive revenue growth by meeting or exceeding sales targets and expanding the client base.
    • Oversee the division’s budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and financial goals are achieved.
    • Analyze sales performance data to identify areas for improvement and adjust strategies/plans accordingly.
    • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to provide a clear focus on measurable outcomes.
  • Collaboration and Cross-Functional Leadership
    • Work closely with other departments or divisions, including marketing, operations, and finance, to align business development efforts with overall company goals.
    • Participate in strategic planning sessions, providing insights and recommendations based on market and client data.
    • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and meetings to build brand awareness and establish industry connections.
    • Facilitate partnerships with company affiliations/associations to meet deliverables by established deadlines.
    • Create and follow standard operating procedures and best practices to support the achievement of objectives and required standards.
    • Effectively leads and engages in meetings.
    • Effectively give feedback to internal and external partners.
    • Exhibit Leadership/Mentorship through positive interactions supporting “One Wapiti” and team members.
    • Practices situational leadership.
Required Qualifications:
  • 5 years of industry related experience
  • 5 years in strategic-level or sales related experience
Preferred Qualifications: (in list format)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Care, Business Administration, or another industry-related field.
  • Master’s in business administration (MBA) degree
