Auto Body Paint & Repair Technician

Fiberglass Body Repair Technician - This is a contract position, located in Salem, VA.
We are looking for an experienced Fiberglass Body Repair Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of hands-on experience in repairing, restoring, and finishing fiberglass materials used in automotive or industrial applications. This role requires precision, technical expertise, and a commitment to quality workmanship, as you’ll be responsible for assessing damage, preparing surfaces, applying resins and coatings, and ensuring repairs meet high industry standards.
Pay rate: $35-40/hr., overtime available. meal per diem, hotel accommodations and travel reimbursement provided.
Key Responsibilities:

Inspect and assess damage on SMC plastic and fiberglass components to determine repair scope and materials needed.
Perform surface preparation, including sanding, cleaning, and shaping, to ensure proper bonding and finish quality.
Mix, apply, and cure resins, fillers, and other materials to repair and restore plastic/fiberglass components.
Sand, smooth, and finish repaired surfaces to meet manufacturer specifications and cosmetic standards.
Use tools and equipment such as grinders, polishers, air sanders, and spray guns to complete repair and finishing tasks.
Follow all safety and environmental regulations in handling materials and equipment.
Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and uphold quality standards.

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in automotive or industrial repair preferred.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience specifically in fiberglass repair.
Proficiency in using tools and materials for composite body repair, including resins, fiberglass cloth, and finishing compounds.
Knowledge of fiberglass repair processes, including surface preparation, bonding, curing, and finishing.

Schedule: Must be able to work a flexible schedule including 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts. 10–12-hour shifts required, including weekends as necessary. Ability to work overtime and weekend hours.
Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience with fiberglass body repair.
