General Information: Job title: Athletic Trainer Coverage: Royall School District - Elroy, WI Schedules Available: Full-time, 80 hours per pay period; Monday-Friday with evening coverage for events Weekend rotation: Occasional event coverage Holiday rotation: Occasional event coverage Position Summary: The Athletic Trainer position provides medical care (prevention of and response to injuries) to active people of all ages and in a wide range of settings. The role includes many disciplines but are not limited to injury prevention, injury rehabilitation & prevention, and emergency and concussion care. Position Responsibilities:
Cover athletic events and after-school activities at a contracted high school.
Prevention, evaluation, and management/rehab of athletic injuries: collect histories, perform physical evaluations, diagnose injuries, and determine a plan of action.
Communicate findings and plan of action with athlete, their parent, and the coach.
Concussion management: assess and diagnose concussions, manage (symptom monitoring, supervising the return to play progression), and determine when the athlete may safely return to activity.
Document treatments/evaluations.
Observe and analyzes root cause or potential causes of injuries, to prevent future injury.
Occupational health and rehab services responsibilities (POETs, desk assessments, & FPNs)
Perform functional progress assessments, post-offer employment tests, and job specific conditioning programs to assist the patient, employer, therapist, and physician in determining when the patient may safely return to work.
Coordinate schedules for coverage of events.
Work as a physician extender in the orthopedic clinic, which requires taking histories, scheduling surgeries, and educating patients.
Performs other related duties as needed.
Position Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, or Kinesiology required.
1+ years related work experience required.
Must hold and maintain a current Athletic Trainer license by the state of Wisconsin.
Certification by the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers.
Must maintain a valid, current driver's license.
BLS certification required.
Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail required.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Intermediate to expert proficiency with computers is required.
Ability to perform musculoskeletal examinations.
Ability to perform concussion evaluations.
Knowledge of emergency care and occupational health.
Self-starter with excellent compassion, interpersonal communication, and problem-solving skills.
