Summary:
Under general direction of the Director of Climate Initiatives, provides advanced communication, program management, and project management support for the Climate Initiatives program, which serves Alaska Native people and rural communities experiencing climate related impacts.
Responsibilities:
Provides advanced project management and communications support for the Director of Climate Initiatives to successfully plan and implement highly complex initiatives and projects including but not limited to: Alaska Tribal Climate Change Advisory Committee, Annual Tribal Climate Initiatives Gathering, Statewide Landscape Assessment, community, regional, state, and federal engagement regarding all climate-related projects.
P rovides planning, project management, and program management support for a wide variety of Climate Initiatives Program projects and initiatives, including supporting funding acquisition and grant and financial management.
T ravels to rural Alaska, including national locations, regularly to meet with representatives from Tribes and Tribal Organizations to better understand climate impacts, advance collaborations, strategies, and projects for solutions.
W orks closely with Federal agencies, the State of Alaska, and City and Tribal Organizations to implement program activities.
S upport strategic planning for all ANTHC climate related work in close collaboration with Director of Climate Initiatives.
S upports the coordination of other ANTHC staff and programs working on climate change related activities (food security, environmental health, behavioral health, water and sanitation, construction, and project management).
W orks closely with the Director and ANTHC’s Intergovernmental Affairs Department to create and implement a strategy to promote equity and inclusion of Alaska Native people and communities in all State and Federal programs.
R esponds to external requests for data, material, information, and interviews related to climate change and the impact in Tribal communities. Leads the creation of reports, presentations, and other communication materials to support the needs of Tribal communities in Alaska. Maintains and conducts assessments of climate change adaptation activities as needed.
A ssures effective communication with ANTHC leadership and staff, agency representatives, Tribes, Tribal Organizations, and other key partners. Convenes, facilitates, and documents stakeholder meetings as necessary to carry out the program. Makes professional presentations to ANTHC leadership and staff, Tribes and Tribal Organizations, agency representatives, and the general public.
A ssists CIP Leadership Team with creating 1–2-year business strategies that support the organization's core mission. Makes recommendations for process improvement and sets department goals that align with ANTHC’s fiscal objectives.

A bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies, Indigenous Studies, Business, and Project Management or related studies. Progressively responsible and relevant professional work-related experience, education, or training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.

N on-supervisory – Six (6) years of relevant work experience in a related field is required. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience.
