Grays Harbor College Athletic Department invites applications for the position of Assistant Coach for Intercollegiate baseball. Reporting to the Head baseball coach, and the Director of Athletics, the selected candidate will be responsible working with the Head Coach of the baseball program, ensuring compliance with athletic department, college, and Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) guidelines. The assistant coach holds a significant role in fostering a holistic collegiate baseball journey for student-athletes, emphasizing academic success, competitive athletics, and personal growth opportunities. This is a part-time, non-tenure position without benefits eligibility. This position is paid through an annual stipend.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist head coach in planning and conducting practices.
- Provide individual skill development sessions for players.
- Help develop game strategies and tactics.
- Assist with identifying and evaluating potential recruits; assist with coordinating recruiting visits and tours of GHC campus and facilities.
- Attend tournaments, showcases, and high school games to scout prospects in conjunction with the head coach.
- Assisting with maintaining communication with recruits and their families.
- Assist in game preparation, including setting up equipment and field.
- Provide in-game coaching and decision-making support.
- Manage substitutions and player rotations during games.
- Analyze game film and statistics for performance review.
- Assist with scheduling of practices, games, and team travel with the head coach and athletic department.
- Help manage team budget and equipment/uniform inventory.
- Ensure compliance with GHC and NWAC rules and regulations.
- Coordinate academic and mentorship support for student-athletes.
- Participate in outreach activities, such as youth camps and clinics.
- Foster relationships with alumni and supporters of the program.
- Represent the program at community events and fundraisers.
- Collaborate with other coaching staff on baseball program development.
- Network with other coaches and professionals in the field.
- Maintain open communication with head coach, players, and athletic staff.
- Act as a liaison between players and coaching staff.
- Assist with fundraising efforts.
- Maintain GHC van training certificate and drive GHC fleet cars to sporting events
- Other Duties as Assigned.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience as a baseball coach and/or player.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification or will obtain as per condition of employment.
- Knowledgeable of NWAC code and regulations or willingness to become knowledgeable.
- Valid unrestricted Washington Driver’s License.
- Good interpersonal communication skills.
- Time management skills
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-2 years assistant coaching in a college level program.
