Analytical Lab Technician Pro Ampac, Rochester Onsite, Monday - Friday Hourly Range - $22 - $28/hour FLSA Full Time, Non-Exempt
This position is responsible to meet the goals and objectives of the organization by coordinating laboratory tests for various flexible packaging products, conducting fit-for use-testing, interpreting analytical results, and providing analytical reports with recommendations to departments as needed. These tests include physical and analytical testing of materials. This position will also provide support for end use of Applications equipment, testing in the same manner, and will cross-train with the other disciplines in the CIC. Prepare and analyze numerous types of samples by a variety of physical and chemical analytical techniques using sophisticated analytical equipment, including microscopy, mechanical testing, bond strength, mode of failure analysis, seal testing, element analysis.
Train others on analytical and physical test methods, appropriate fit-for-use testing and interpretation of results.
Compile, interpret, report, and make recommendations based on results of tests and analyses.
Maintain Standard Operating Procedures and make recommends for their improvement
Participate in scientific discussion and critical thinking
Assemble test materials and equipment to expedite test procedures
Communicate to stakeholders when test results indicate that corrective action is necessary.
Prioritize samples as they arrive in laboratory.
Responsible for instruments operations (including calibration and maintenance) and monitoring the quality of the laboratory results.
Assist with implementation of new analytical methods.
Monitor consumables needed in the lab and request/ purchase replacements (i.e. gas, alcohol, rhodamine)
Correspond with partner universities to run tests that CIC does not offer
Submit justification for changing or adding new lab equipment and supplies
Assist running/maintaining new equipment in Applications Lab
Utilize equipment in the Packaging Lab to run DOE’s on packaging and cooking as requested by customers internally and externally
Train and direct new employees on Packaging and Applications Lab equipment
Assist DASL team during down time in APPL
