Two Rivers Supervisory Union 21st Century Community Learning Centers Afterschool Programs are looking for Program Staff candidates who have these skills and are passionate about hands on learning. Our 21C Afterschool programs not only support and complement the school day, they encourage collaborative work, develop critical thinking and social skills, and stimulate creativity. This is a part-time position, generally working the hours of 2:45 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday at Cavendish Town Elementary School. This position could potentially be combined with a full-time school day position or a position in our summer program for more hours. The Program Staff are responsible for the planning and implementation of activities in the afterschool program. Program Staff should have knowledge of the developmental needs of students. The Program Staff are responsible for daily interactions with students, families and teachers and are responsible for the safety and well-being of all students who attend the afterschool program. Specific Responsibilities:
Takes attendance daily
Snack service
Works with students during homework time to ensure all needs are being met on an individualized level
Communicates all needs including supplies, snacks, equipment needs or staffing conflicts with site coordinator
Creates a fun and inviting atmosphere
Works with the Site Coordinator in designing activities that are engaging and reflect the interests of the students.
Identifies goals for the activity and a list of what the students want to learn and do while in the activity.
Creates and submits a weekly planner
Responds to the individual needs, interests and pace of task completion of students.
Allows students to work out their problems with each other, assisting when needed.
Works to motivate students that are having difficulty finding a place in the program to be successful.
Solicits feedback from the students in order to improve the way the activity is being offered.
Communicates with Site Coordinator about concerns regarding students in the program.
Arrives to program on time and prepared for daily responsibilities including snack preparation and activity set up.
Interacts with students in a warm and respectful manner, building motivation and a sense of community.
Plans and prepares a variety of alternative educational activities during homework time.
Responsible for clean-up of program space at end of activity/day
