The Lakefront, Anchorage hotel (formerly the Millennium Hotel) is recruiting for full time, Accounts payable & Cash auditor to join our team. The Lakefront Anchorage Hotel boasts 248 rooms and three outstanding food and beverage outlets. The role of the accounts payable & cash auditor is successfully perform all aspects of accounts payable, purchase order, cash handling and bank audits ensuring compliance with established procedures and processes. Typical duties include:
Submit invoices to Corporate Accounting in a timely manner and follow up on any outstanding invoices.
Manage and maintain vendor accounts with corporate personnel.
Train staff on proper purchasing procedures and assure they are following SOP's.
Prepare and audit documents to assure they are in accordance with the purchasing and procurement requirements (SOP's).
Audit and work with managers to assure required documentation for invoices are attached.
Prepare vendor payments for approval on a weekly basis through accounting system and submit to DOF for approval.
Count and verify cash drops on a daily basis.
Reconcile and audit daily cash and over/shorts.
Work with department heads to resolve issues timely and effectively.
Prepare daily deposits for bank pick-up and ensure proper change is available.
Manage banks distributed to/from employees.
Routinely audit banks for accuracy and notify HR and supervisor of discrepancies.
Assist with month end closing, including inventory.
Effectively communicate with all managers on changes, requirements and noncompliance issues, without delay.
Performs any other duties as requested by management.
The successful applicant will:
Knowledge of accounting operations, such as accounts payable, procurement, general ledger, required.
A.S. or B.S. in accounting/finance preferred or a minimum of 3 years' accounting and/or accounts payable experience; hotel experience preferred.
Experience with Great Plains, Oracle or other accounting system; hotel systems such as Micros and Opera, preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Must be detail oriented, analytical, and organized.
Ability to deal effectively with guest, vendor and employee concerns in a friendly, professional and positive manner. This involves listening to the nature of the concern, demonstrating empathy and providing positive and proactive solutions.
Ability to multi-task, work well under pressure, meet tight deadlines and in a fast pace environment.
Must be motivated and have imitative with good judgment skills.
Ability to enforce audit controls and apply quality control measures to all functions.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to communicate with all levels of staff and keep the communication line open.
Ability to work both independently and as a team member.
Patience, tact and diplomacy.
