Account Specialist

Position Profile: The Account Specialist plays an important role in the organization by performing a number of specialized activities related to the sales department and its coordination with other departments within the organization. In addition to supporting sales team needs, The Account Specialist will be the external vendor liaison; to include establishing and maintaining broker relationships and occasional client-direct contact.
Reporting: Director, Sales and Account Management
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: The following are upheld by the Account Specialist:
· Role model and live the company values and behaviors. Know the company vision, mission, and objectives and continually communicate and reinforce these to fellow Team Members.
· Develop, update, and run reports for Sales Department members as requested by manager.
· Process all Agent of Record letters and maintain broker database; includes processing of all agent appointments and/or terminations and Office of the Superintendent of Insurance renewals.
· Work with department management to ensure that any newly introduced systems and/or programs effort meet department functional requirements, system compliance and other specifications. Work with subject matter expert to ensure system and equipment function properly.
· Analyze broker / client data to optimize sales efforts and better identify potential customers.
· Proactively assist management to update and keep current all policies and procedures to implement process improvements.
· Participate in and support planning and development of long-term strategic goals for promoting sales initiatives and broker oversight programs.
· Understand and communicate effectively to brokers and client prospects Delta Dental products, underwriting guidelines and services in both oral and written communications.
· Document sales-related department activities including sales reports; includes maintenance of sales and broker-related process policies and procedures.
· Attend enrollment meetings as requested, present/explain plan details to brokers and clients.
· Build and manage database of potential clients to assist in new business growth initiatives.
· Work closely with Group Administration on all crossover activities to ensure understanding and of Group Administration / Sales and Account Management processes overlap.
· Perform other related assigned duties as necessary to complete the Primary Job Responsibilities as described.
· Adhere to departmental and corporate policies and procedures, serve internal customers, and support the goals of other departments and the company.
· Foster, encourage, and reward a fun, positive, successful, culture.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
The following are required of the Position:

· Maintain a 95% or better retention rate for groups.
· Maintain 95% or better retention rate for subscribers.
· AOR Changes – 98% within a 3 business day turnaround
· New Agent Appointment – 98% within a 2 business day turnaround
· 90% group/broker satisfaction score – Annual Survey based on 10% responses rate.
· Attend a minimum of 1 community event sponsored by DDNM
· Participate in External Networking Organization (organization approved by manager).
· 100% attendance of sales training
· Actively engage in training and associated prep work
· Utilize skills and knowledge to enhance sales and account management
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The following are expected of the Account Specialist:
· Must have state health insurance license (or must obtain one within three months of employment);
· Must have valid New Mexico driver’s license and proof of insurance that meets or exceeds statutory requirements. Must have knowledge of service in the health care industry;
· Position requires time management skills to support multiple team members and manage multiple tasks within deadlines;
· Skilled communicator, with effective verbal, written, and listening skills;
· Proficient computer skills including Salesforce, Word, Power Point, and Excel;
· Reliable transportation and the ability to occasionally drive/travel/deliver materials within New Mexico (primarily the Albuquerque/Santa Fe metro area);
· Flexibility to maintain a work schedule that can occasionally begin prior to 8:00AM and/or end after 5:00PM and/or can exceed 40 hours a week when necessary;
· Ability to lift 30 pounds;
· Able to work in the office during regular business working hours;
· Legally authorized to work in the United States;
· Successfully pass a 7-year background check and drug test.
EXPERIENCE: Position requires minimum of three years experience in a customer service, account or sales support role, preferably in the group benefits/insurance field.
EDUCATION:
· Bachelor’s degree preferred.
· Will accept any suitable combination of education, training, or experience.
