Support Worker for our gorgeous young man, 20, from our home. Part time.
We are looking for another team member to help our son have his best life. What's Rufus like then? Rufus is a happy and engaging 20-year-old who loves to be around people. He loves to go out for walks in his wheelchair (he has cerebral palsy), to do silly things like going ice skating or on the boats (again, in his chair) and to see lots of people round and about. He is non-verbal but is very good at communicating with his gorgeous eyes. He's young for his age, and gets his own way by flirting outrageously. This usually means Justin Fletcher, in all his forms, and if you don't know who that is, you soon will! Owing to his disability he needs someone to manage all his care needs, including personal care and light housework in his bedroom and bathroom, but that someone also needs to be fabulous in lots of other ways. What's the job like then? We think it's great! After he's sorted out in the morning, he heads out somewhere every day, e.g. sessions with disability music, dance and art groups nearby and in Glasgow; lots of walks / visits to the supermarket, and anything else you or the team come up with! What are you like then? We are not looking for someone with lots of experience, your personality is what counts, so we would love to hear from you if:
You are proactive, energetic and caring
have good communication skills, and have good levels of numeracy and literacy.
are calm under pressure, or silly under pressure - this will be explained!
Have a full, clean driving licence, (so you can drive our son's vehicle) and probably your own car, due to our location near Beith, North Ayrshire.
and are a non-smoker, or understand there is absolutely no smoking during these shifts.
