Under the direction of the Building Services Manager, this position provides daily supervision to the Housekeepers at the Hadlow, Acosta-Rua, and Mc Graw Centers for Caring, as well as the Neviaser Educational Institute, and the other buildings located throughout our service areas. Responsible for scheduling and training Housekeepers and ensuring compliance with housekeeping practices and standards as established by Building Services Manager and in accordance with health and safety requirements as specified governmental and licensing agencies. The Housekeeping Supervisor also fills in as a Housekeeper when needed.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Plans and schedules the work assignments of housekeeping staff based on potential admissions and discharges and staff absences or vacancies.
2. Inspects housekeeping work while in progress and after completion to ensure compliance with prescribed standards of health, cleanliness, and safety.
3. Trains and orients housekeeping staff on policies, work procedures, and the proper use of housekeeping supplies and equipment.
4. Conducts inventory of housekeeping linens, chemicals, cleaning agents, and supplies and places reorders when necessary.
5. Identifies and corrects deficiencies in the housekeeping area and brings any maintenance issues with furniture or the buildings to the attention of the Building Services Manager to address.
6. Reports any housekeeping related complaints and customer service issues to the Building Services Manager so instructions can be provided on how best to address problems in a timely and cost-effective manner.
7. Assists the Building Services Manager in the interviewing and selection of applicants for housekeeping positions. Documents any employee performance issues and reports them to the Building Services Manager. Prepares and conducts performance reviews in accordance with the established procedures of the organization.
8. Attends and participates in meetings and problem- solving sessions to discuss housekeeping issues or policies.
9. Fills in as Housekeeper when needed due to staff absences and vacancies.
10. Performs other duties as assigned by the Building Services Manager or the Director of Facility Management.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
- Current State of Florida Driver’s license with driving record acceptable to Community Hospice of Northeast FL insurance carrier.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that would provide required skills and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying.
Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
- High School degree or equivalent.
- Prior custodial and healthcare housekeeping experience.
- One (1) to two (2) years supervisory experience.
- Reliable transportation that allows employees to shift work locations when needed.
- Experience in staff management.
Knowledge of:
- Housekeeping.
- Occupational Safety and Health Administrations (OSHA) regulations for health care facilities.
- Agency for Healthcare Administration (AHCA)
Skilled at:
- Proficient in Microsoft Word.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Clear and effective communication in both oral and written form.
- Management and scheduling of employees.
