Job Title: Safeguarding and Wellbeing Advisor
Salary Range: £36,000-£44,000 - Target Salary: £40,000

Car Allowance/Company Car
Grade: SC2
Location: England - Mobile Role

This role will involve working from home on average 2-3 days per week.

Role purpose:
The post holder will contribute to the monitoring and maintenance of robust safeguarding and wellbeing arrangements, writing and updating case reports, and supporting colleagues to ensure that safeguarding and wellbeing of apprentices is at the heart of all operational activities. In addition, the post holder will work across the teams, providing insights from activities in order to ensure that CITB remain compliant with emerging legislation, and provide effective support to those who need it. The post holder will also be responsible for the delivery of safeguarding, wellbeing and associated training programmes across the provision.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
  • Contribute to the setting, monitoring and maintenance of robust safeguarding and wellbeing arrangements, contributing to the development and updating of policies and compliance with emerging nation specific legislation under the direction of the Safeguarding Lead.
  • Ensure effective and timely communication and information sharing in relation to safeguarding and wellbeing, both internally and externally.
  • Assure, through data gathering and research, the quality of the advice and wellbeing services and identify areas for development which will inform future CPD opportunities.
  • Support managers in any investigation to resolve any safeguarding or wellbeing concerns/complaints, providing guidance on policy and legislation and assist in compiling recommendations and final reports.
  • To be responsible for ensuring that appropriate action is taken in emergency or crisis situations such as student death, illness or other serious incident affecting individual students or a cohort.
  • Work with internal teams to develop and deliver a range of training activities that reflect the ever-changing safeguarding landscape and ensure operational teams have the skill, knowledge and understanding to be able to effectively support vulnerable apprentices at risk.
  • Maintain a high profile as the recognised point of contact freely available to all wishing to raise concerns or seek help and guidance on any questions connected with policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular checks of key systems such as My Concern, to ensure that the information held is current and that where actions are required, that these have been taken in a timely manner and provide support where required.
  • Contribute to Team Meetings to ensure that safeguarding is discussed on a regular basis and that teams are aware of hot topics which should be discussed with apprentices and employers.
  • Provide advice and guidance to team members on wellbeing and safeguarding, and work with mental health first aiders to ensure that apprentices receive the highest levels of support when they need it most.
  • Support the Designated Safeguarding Lead to produce monthly analysis reports on activities, incidents and trends.
  • To act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads when the Designated Safeguarding Lead is not available.

Knowledge and Experience:
Essential
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience of safeguarding issues, policies, procedures, statutory guidance and relevant legislation
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability/experience to assist in the delivery of training
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters with integrity, perception and competence.
  • Experience of working with and young people, including those who have physical disabilities and learning difficulties
  • Be self-motivated and a positive attitude to work
  • Ability to Influence, challenge and to manage conflict and difficult situations
Desirable
  • Safeguarding Level 3 Qualification (Must be achieved within 6 months of appointment).
  • Mental Health First Aider Qualification
  • Experience within apprenticeship provision
Special Conditions/Other Requirements:
  • Full UK driving license
  • Extensive travel
  • Willing & able to work non-standard hours as and when necessary
  • Overnight stays
