Moy Area Playgroup are seeking to recruit a one to one support worker for immediate start until June 2025. This is a temporary post. Hours of work: Monday to Friday 9 – 12pm (contact hours), 2 additional hours for completing paperwork and preparation (17 hours in total). Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 support for a child with complex communication and sensory needs.
The support worker will be responsible for conducting a baseline of needs, and observe, record and plan and implement appropriate PLP’s on a daily basis.
The support worker will have to carefully plan and deliver focused learning opportunities for the child to develop language and communication skills, social and play skills, ensuring inclusion and participation in routines.
The support worker will facilitate regular communication with leader, parents and engage with other professionals involved in child’s care.
The support worker will provide intimate care for the child, changing nappies and facilitating the use of a potty. Guiding the child in their development of self-care skills.
The support worker will avail of any training and seek advice from external agencies/support services.
Essential skills and qualifications:
A minimum of QCF/NVQ level 3 CCLD.
Experience working with children with complex speech and language/Global Developmental Delay
Experience and responsibility with carrying out observations, planning and delivering age/stage related activities implementing appropriate care plans, PLP’s and schedules.
A working knowledge of the Northern Ireland Pre-school Curriculum.
Desirable skills:
At least 1 years’ experience in a paid capacity working with a child with language difficulties and global developmental delay
A willingness to undertake additional training.
Able to involve the child in following of routines, rules and boundaries within the setting and supporting the child with transitions.
