Your role in our team:
Our mission is to drive growth and sustainability through strategic financial management and operational efficiency. We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Head of Operational Finance to join our team and lead our financial operations.
Reporting to the CFO, the Head of Operational Finance will be responsible for the processes and controls of Exclaimer’s financial operation, ensuring robust financial management, operational efficiency, and compliance with regulatory requirements. In addition to the strategic components, this role will be charged with developing and implementing more sophisticated policies and procedures within the financial environment including the use of technology and AI.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing our financial processes, leading change where required, and ensuring robust financial controls with a view to driving continuous improvement in our operational finance function.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Management:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the operational finance teams (Accounts Payable and Credit Control) to achieve personal and departmental objectives;
  • Foster a high-performance culture within the team, promoting professional growth and development;

Systems & Processes:
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation within the operational finance functions;
  • Design and implement improvement to existing processes and tools to deliver enhanced efficiency and effectiveness primarily focused on cash collection and accounts payable, with a view to automate and streamline where possible.

Financial Operations:
  • Oversee day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions concerning supplier payment runs, expense management, payroll;
  • Develop, implement, and maintain robust financial controls and procedures to ensure strong governance framework exists around financial operations;
  • Implement AP best practices and policies including, but not limited to, supplier invoicing, supplier relationship management, AP analytics and KPI (Key Performance Indicators) reporting.
Credit Control:
  • Work with the Credit Control Manager to design, implement, and manage a robust collection strategy to ensure timely collection of receivables, monitor and analyze the aged debt position and embed key performance indicators (KPIs) for the credit control function;
  • Provide support and guidance to the Credit Control manager in establishing and maintaining strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders;
  • Champion the use of AI, challenging the team to improve efficiency metrics using technology;
  • Ensure that aged balances are proactively worked through to resolution.
Reporting and Analysis:
  • Provision of high-quality reporting and analysis for Exec and Board level review;
  • Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement within the Financial Operations team;
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

- Strong academic record. Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA - 1st time passes preferred) would be highly beneficial
  • Proven track record of developing scalable and efficient processes in a senior finance role, within operational finance and credit control teams ideally in a fast-paced Saa S environment
  • Excellent analytical, communication and influencing skills (both written and oral), preferably with commercial exposure in previous roles
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel with experience of manipulating large datasets and modelling skills (pivot tables, filtering, lookups etc)
  • Proficiency in financial software (ideally Net Suite)
  • Ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proven self-starter with experience of being able to work independently, juggling and prioritizing across workloads and consistently meeting deadlines
