Dimensions of the job: Working with other members of the centre staff and volunteers, workers from other agencies and beneficiaries. The FS/PW will, as part of the family centre team plan, organise, support and develop family support activities for pre-school children and their families in accordance with the framework for practice. They will also provide assistance in crèches as and when required. Working Relations: Internal: Regular contact with Family Centre workers, volunteers and the management committee External: Regular contact with relevant local authority/statutory departments, other agencies, projects and groups involved in similar work or activities in the locality, members of the clergy and health professionals. Key Tasks: To work alongside other family centre staff, volunteers and beneficiaries. To ensure a warm, safe and well equipped playroom environment for children and their families with a wide range of play opportunities. To provide activities for children and their families that will enhance their lives socially, intellectually, emotionally and physically. To support programme planning for families in liaison with the centre staff and Manager. To provide family support to families with additional needs. To share responsibility for Health and Safety, while on the base or outside, in conjunction with the other staff and the Manager. To assist in keeping records/ statistics in order to ensure the project is working towards the Framework for Practice and the Welsh Assembly Government 7 core aims. To take care of play equipment ensuring that it complies with Health and Safety regulations. To undertake a shared responsibility for maintaining the cleanliness of the family centre. To undertake training required for the post. To undertake any other tasks relevant to the post as and when required. Qualifications and experience: A relevant qualification or experience in Childcare/Community Work is essential. Applicants who are working towards a qualification will also be considered. A basic knowledge of First Aid is essential, including a First Aid Certificate and /or a willingness to undertake First Aid training.
