Job summary
To provide support to Air Traffic Controllers in the provision of Air Traffic Services enabling safe aviation operations at Royal Air Force Waddington.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job description
Employed within roles as:
Truck Runway Caravan Controller: Responsible for immediate flight safety decisions when aircraft are arriving and departing.
Visual Control Room Specialist: Controlling all vehicular traffic around the Aerodrome, including any Emergency Response, and disseminating real time arrival and departure information both verbally and electronically within the Visual Control Room.
Switchboard Specialist: Providing flight safety critical data to Controllers whilst maintaining the communications paths both into and out of Air Traffic Control in a verbal and electronic form.
Driver Position: Providing aircraft and visitor with escorts around the aerodrome and task deemed necessary in support of operations.
Person specification
Applying individuals must have previous service within either Trade Group 9 or 7 within the last 5 years within an RAF Air Traffic Control Tower and completed one of the following Phase two training courses:
  • Air and Space Operations Profession (Operations) Course – Module 2 Air Traffic Control
  • Air and Space Operations Specialist Course (ASOSC)
  • Flight Operations Assistant Course (FOAC)
  • Flight Operations Specialist Course (FOSC)
Licences
UK Full Driving Licence
Qualifications
Must have completed one of the Phase 2 ASOS training course listed as either:
a. Air and Space Operations Profession (Operations) Course – Module 2 Air
Traffic Control
b. Air and Space Operations Specialist Course (ASOSC)
c. Flight Operations Assistant Course (FOAC)
d. Flight Operations Specialist Course (FOSC)
Languages
Fluency in both written and spoken English

The post does not offer relocation expenses.

Selection process details
This vacancy is using Success Profiles (opens in a new window), and will assess your Behaviours and Experience.
Candidates will be selected based on relevant previous experience and then invited to attend a face to face interview.
The interview will include topics detailing what the candidate can be expected to be carrying out within the role and the specifics of tasking at RAF Waddington; as well as aerodrome information available as open source to be researched.
