Registered Nurse - Maternity Ward (MBZ)
These must be upheld in accordance with the UAE NMC Code of Conduct and Scope of Practice (Mo Ha P). The post holder will:
Education and Training:
- Always speak up if safety is a concern
- Treat all patients with kindness, respect and compassion.
- Recognize and work within the limits of their own competence
- Take responsibility for their own actions
- Communicate effectively with colleagues to ensure patients receives the safest, most effective care possible.
- Perform additional duties when required
- Ensure relevant training and competency is undertaken to deliver care safely
- Maintain up-to-date mandatory training requirements
- Follow the clinical pathways set out by the NMC Elseviar platform
- Follow and comply with the NMC Competency Framework, relevant to their role profile
- Be willing to learn new clinical skills
- Support and supervise pre-registration and new nurses and Health Care Workers when required
- Participate in teaching, mentorship and preceptorship programmes when required
- Participate in clinical supervision
- Participate in Performance Improvement Plans when required
- Share knowledge and skill with others, in order to improve patient care and service
- Ensure they are skilled, trained and competent before using any medical device.
- Involve patients in their own healthcare and recovery through education, awareness and positive reinforcement.
- Speak up, if something isn't right.
- Maintain awareness of and comply with, the NMC Policies and Procedures
- Participate in all activities related to Do H/DHA/Mo H/NMC Quality Improvement when required
- Understand the Regulatory standards and which of them apply to their daily working practice
- Continually seek to improve the service of and care delivery for patients and their families
- Report and notify all untoward/serious and near miss incidents to your direct line manager and then through the Sapphire/incident reporting system in a timely way
- Cooperate with all investigations and audits when requested to do so in the interest of developing a learning culture and seeking to improve care and service
- Promote customer service based on NMC patient satisfaction results.
- Share great practice
- Uphold the reputation of the nursing profession at all times
- Act as a positive role model for all nursing and support staff
- Must have insight of own behaviour on others
- Be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care under the indirect supervision of senior nursing staff.
- Comply will all aspects of the UAE NMC Code of Conduct
- Refuse to undertake any task for which he/she has not been trained and is not competent to undertake.
- Always seek expert help when the demand of care, service or skill, falls outside their capabilities.
- Only delegate tasks to those team members who are trained, skilled and competent to undertake such tasks
- Assist in updating clinical policies and guidelines in line with skill and experience
- Assist, engage with and contribute to the professional development of colleagues
- Ensure revalidation is managed in a timely manner
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times
- Ensure timely expert advice or senior nursing support is sought when a patient's condition fails to respond to prescribed treatment
- Manage a deteriorating patient without delay, using the EWS 2 escalation process and emergency algorithm.
Infection Prevention and Control: IPC is everyone’s responsibility. All staff are required to read and implement the NMC IPC Policy and Strategy in an effort to maintain the highest possible standards of cleanliness at all times, thus reducing the risk of infection in patients, staff and visitors. The strictest hand hygiene, 5 moments of hand hygiene, bare below the elbows and environmental care, will be expected of all staff, including the post holder, at all times.

- Be expert registered nurses with advanced education, training or certification in their specialized area of practice. Specialty practice may be defined by population, clinical setting a disease/medical subspecialty and type of care or type of problem.
- Be a role model and always seek to improve the safety and quality of care delivered to patients in the specialist field.
