The Neuro Robotics Group invites applications from excellent engeineers and scientists. We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate with excellent technical skills and a strong background in robotics and mechatronics as well as knowledge in computational engineering to join the team. Closely associated with the Department of Neurosurgery at the Bern University Hospital (Inselspital), we are dedicated to enhance patient care through fundamental and translational research.

Closely associated with the Department of Neurosurgery at the Bern University Hospital (Inselspital), we are dedicated to enhance patient care through fundamental and translational research.
Tasks
You will be part of our interdisciplinary project team of experts in mechanical and lectrical engineering, robotics as well as neurosurgeons developing the next generation of robotic neurosurgical instruments. You will focus on device development (hardware and software), from conceptualization, design, prototyping, evaluation and assessment to the first devices that can be tested by our colleagues in neurosurgery.
Requirements
- Master or doctoral degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline
- Expertise in robotics and mechatronics
- Strong programming skills (C/C++, ROS, Python) and experience in software development
- Experience with miniaturization and medical robotics is a plus
- Experience in telemanipulation, haptics and programming game engines/graphics software are a plus
- Hands-on person who likes to work with hardware
- Independent personality, self-driven, creative, solution-oriented, team-player
- You want to work in and contribute to an interdisciplinary and applied research environment
- You are excited to be exposed to a clinical environment and collaborate with clinical partners
- You want to see the translation of your work to the market and into the clinics
