PURPOSE OF ROLE The SHEQ Manager ensures prevention of workplace incidents/accidents and promotes Health, Safety, Environment & Quality awareness among employees. This critical role leads a team of (Safety Officers and Quality Representatives, amongst others) specialists to achieve a behavioural-based Safety & Quality culture on projects and in the organisation, driving best practices and continuous improvement. As a key influencer and change agent, the SHEQ Manager ensures full implementation and compliance with global and local strategies, maintaining excellent SHEQ standards across the business unit. The role collaborates with senior management to implement an effective & sustainable SHEQ policy.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE):
Plan, direct, and implement organizational SHEQ programs
Manage, organise and report on the Industrial Division Safety team.
Develop and implement safety policies and procedures compliant with OSHACT & The Mines & Safety Act
Design and conduct training on workplace safety, fire prevention, and handling of hazardous materials
Analyse industrial accident causes and health hazards
Report on SHEQ performance, compliance, incidents, trends, and issues
Manage key safety and environmental projects to achieve Zero Harm
Develop and implement inspection policies, procedures, and schedules
Evaluate health and safety practices and conduct risk assessments
Investigate accidents/incidents and implement preventative measures
Handle worker's compensation claims and suggest SHEQ improvements
Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC):
Supervise Quality Control functions, including inspection schedules and quality records collection
Manage, organise and report on the Industrial Division Quality team.
Support Project/Construction Manager in client communications for quality matters
Assess implementation of Quality Plan and Quality Control Plans (QCP's)
Allocate Quality Control personnel and supervise inspections and documentation
Evaluate qualifications of welders, NDT Technicians, and inspection personnel
Support construction roles in subcontractor management and control
Participate in internal/external audits and coordinate material identification systems
Supervise equipment calibration management and welding/NDT qualification activities
