To implement, manage, and co-ordinate all HSE requirements and strategies required to ensure that the Africa Data Centres OHS and Environmental management programmes during Operation, Infrastructure, Construction, and Project activities are in compliance with applicable standards, code of practices, and regulatory requirements including ADC best practices.
They are ultimately responsible for all HSE aspects in relation to Operations, Infrastructure, Construction, and Projects activities and will, 'where necessary' involve all applicable departments such as Infrastructure, Security, Projects, and Operations to ensure successful HSE implementation and communication.
In order to manage the ADC HSE requirements, the HSE Specialist interacts with the Operational and Infrastructure Department, including General Contractors, Sub-contractors, Consultants, Professional Teams and ADC Project Department.
Key Performance Area Occupational Health, Safety, And Environmental Planning
Research and analyses the resources and requirements for the HSE function in relation to Operations, Infrastructure, Construction, and Projects activities
Provides a healthy, safe, and environmentally conducive working environment at Africa Data Centres using pragmatic and cost-effective initiatives.
Keeps up to date with legislative requirements and ensures legislative compliance by Operations, Infrastructure, Construction, and Projects activities through relevant Line Manager.
Occupational Health, Safety, And Environmental
Manages the HSE incidents/risks faced by the company effectively to minimise the number (and cost) of incidents/risks reported.
Ensures that all mandatory training certification is maintained and on record.
Delegate HSE training to employees and contractors, including induction awareness.
Environmental Management
Identifies the environmental impacts and aspects and compile an environmental risk register with legal framework and mitigating factor
Monitors and completes internal audits to determine progress, and where required plan actions to reach ADC goals
Interact with Management and other department managers regarding ADC and all aspects relating to HSE issues within Operations, Infrastructure, Construction, and Project activities.
Leadership Management
Sufficient management of resourcing to ensure organisational objectives are achieved.
Engages will all staff, contractors and external parties by means of coaching, guidance, consultation and meetings to uplift HSE culture of all interested parties.
Formal Qualifications Required
Diploma / Degree in EH&S
SAMTRAC or equivalent
SACPCMP registration as Construction Health and Safety Officer or higher.
Job Related Experience Required
Minimum 5 years experience in Integrated Safety Risk Management and auditing experience
Minimum 4-6 years experience in Managerial position held
5 years minimum experience in Risk Management within large projects
6-8 years minimum experience in construction management related to HSE
Job Related Knowledge Required
Occupational, Health, Safety and Environment knowledge within large projects
Approach and methodology of risk assessments and auditing
Proven ability in identifying HSE risks and mitigation thereof
