We are currently seeking a detail-oriented Fixed Asset Recon Clerk who is professional, motivated, and possesses strong time management and analytical skills.
As a Fixed Asset Recon Clerk, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our fixed asset records. You will be responsible for reconciling fixed asset accounts, maintaining asset registers, and supporting the financial reporting process. The ideal candidate will take a logical approach to their work, demonstrate consistency, and use initiative while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Good communication skills and a process-oriented mindset are essential for success in this role.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Asset Information and Data Management:
- Verify cost and other asset information on Fixed Asset Register System by reference to supporting documentation
- Accurately capture information on Fixed Asset Register System
- Liaise with various departments and suppliers as required to obtain and verify accuracy and completeness of information on Fixed Asset Register.
- Verify depreciation calculations
2) Fixed Asset Reconciliation:
- Reconcile Fixed Asset Register information to general ledger and supporting information.
- Reconcile Fixed Asset Register with Financing schedules and reports
3) Asset Verification
- Conduct audit and physical checks of assets on hand against Fixed Asset Register
- Conduct periodic asset stock counts
- Prepare asset count and audit variance report for management review
4)Fixed Asset Financing administration
- Assist financial accountant with preparation of documents relating to asset financing.
- Capture Asset financing details to Fixed Asset Register system
5) Fixed Asset Reporting:
- Extract and prepare relevant reports from Fixed Asset System for management review
- Identify and report on assets approaching end of life cycle.
6)Process Monitoring
- Assist management to ensure that standard operating procedures (SOP) are being consistently and correctly followed.
- Support departments in understanding and adhering to SOP
7) General Support and Administration
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12 Certificate with a relevant diploma or degree is preferred.
- A solid understanding of IFRS, particularly IAS 16 (Property, Plant, and Equipment), is essential.
- A minimum of 18 months of work experience in a finance or accounting role, specifically involving fixed asset reconciliations, is required.
- Prior experience with accounting software is mandatory.
- Familiarity with asset management systems is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of best practices in fixed asset management.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Ability to analyze processes and identify areas for improvement.
