EHS Manager Purpose: Support the Site Manager to establish an EHS management system and strong safety culture.
GOALS:
Support plant leadership in preventing all work related injuries and illnesses as well as environmental harm
consultant for plant managers, superintendents and all leaders.
Support plant leadership in establishing a safe & environmental friendly work environment.
Definition of site regulation and communication to all site member.
Ensure compliance via auditing that Site, Company and local regulations.
Offer solutions and support action implementation regarding the work environment.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the fulfillment of the tasks assigned to him/her
Responsible for his/her professional advice
Authority to have equipment shut down if safety, health, or the environment are endangered
Assist the Operations/Location Managers during an emergency situation in coordination/direct communication with plant management, staff positions, or their representatives
Manage location safety and health activities (training, inspections, and audits, as well as internal and external reporting)
Conducts internal inspections and audits and assists in coordinating external inspections and audits
Analyzes, reviews, and reports location trends (audits, injuries, incidents, etc.) and monitors safety performance
Advises management of safety and health issues, provides location managers with guidance and assistance
Participates on location safety and health committee as a technical consultant / advisor.
Provides technical support (if and when required)
Assists in auditing new or revised equipment
Assists line management in recognizing hazards and risks
Develops material and assist in training.
Assists in the orientation and training of new colleagues
Assists with incident investigation.
Stays up-to-date with regulatory developments, best practices, etc.
Develops and maintains positive relationships with key contacts
Support, promote and review the completion of safety information requirements to be entered in company safety database. (Incidents and near misses investigation, audits, inspections, corrective actions tracking process and etc.)
Models the core values with regard to safety; integrity, respect, excellence, resourcefulness, teamwork and responsibility.
Qualifications:
Relevant National Safety Management Diploma or working towards it
OHSAct & Regulations Training and Certification
Recognized Health & Safety Qualification
Degree in Health and Safety, Engineering, or proven equivalent experience
4+ years of experience in a similar role, ideally within a Production/Manufacturing environment
Strong safety knowledge with an in-depth understanding of industry standards and best practices
Understanding of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering processes and procedures
Knowledge of combustible dust hazards and Hazard Area Classification
Familiarity with Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and Permit to Work Systems
A recognized Environmental qualification is preferred
EHS Compliance and auditing experience

Ideal Candidate:

The successful candidate will possess strong safety knowledge, demonstrate leadership in compliance and problem-solving, and have a solid background in environmental, health, and safety procedures and standards.
