Staff Cook
Job Summary: The Staff Cook is responsible for preparing meals for kitchen staff and other employees in a supportive role within the culinary team. This position requires basic culinary skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining food safety and hygiene standards. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with the culinary team to ensure that meals are nutritious, appealing, and meet dietary requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Meal Preparation:
Prepare and cook meals for staff according to menu specifications and dietary guidelines.
Ensure all food is prepared in a timely manner and presented attractively.
Assist in planning menus and meal options that cater to staff preferences and dietary needs.
Inventory and Stock Management:
Monitor and manage kitchen inventory, including ordering and restocking supplies as needed.
Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization of food storage areas.
Food Safety and Hygiene:
Adhere to food safety and sanitation regulations at all times.
Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen, including equipment, utensils, and cooking surfaces.
Ensure proper handling and storage of food items.
Collaboration:
Work closely with the Head Chef and kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations.
Assist in training new kitchen staff on food preparation techniques and safety practices.
Participate in team meetings to provide feedback and contribute ideas for improving meal offerings.
Quality Control:
Conduct taste tests to ensure food quality and consistency.
Make adjustments to recipes and presentations based on feedback from staff.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; a culinary degree or certification is a plus.
Experience:
Previous experience in a kitchen or cooking role preferred.
Experience in a high-volume or institutional kitchen is advantageous.
