The Process Control Engineer is responsible for the control systems in the Yanbu site: SIS, DCS, PLC... both
software and hardware. He will use his expertise to improve reliability and efficiency of the plant. He will work
on the automatisation level to decrease operator actions and number of alarms. If required, he will also perform
site job himself. He is assisted by the Electrical & Instrumentation leader (& his team) to perform the
maintenance of the process control systems (DCS SIS PLC etc).
The process control engineer is the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System, Maximo) champion
of Yanbu plant and owner of Operator Training Simulator (OTS). 1 Safety & IMS Achieve a high safety level in his work. Ensure his contractors work safely (zero accident policy). Reports and analyses any safety related near miss event or accident if any. Attend safety and IMS training. Actively participate to MOC process, leading it in many occassions. Detect modifications and apply MOC properly. Implement IMS in the field of his activities. Maintain - in line with IMS guidelines- all HSE related equipments such as SIS. Comply with local Rules and regulations and Air Liquide Industrial Management System. 2 Process Control Systems Provide info and participate to the long term maintenance schedules. Implement predictive (Pd M) and preventive maintenance (PM) plan. He is assisted by the Electrical & Instrumentation leader (& his team) to perform the maintenance of the process control systems (DCS SIS PLC etc). Support operation team to optimize plant. The Process Control Engineer is responsible for the back-up of the systems and to keep the documentation (Functional diagrams etc) related to control systems up to date. Manage and control the system updates. Manage circumstance conditions of system cabinet properly. Monitor system health continuously. Understand all system functions. Manage control system history. Controls and monitors contractors involved in process control activities . Give necessary recommendations for spare parts. - Developing and/or approving specifications for new products and/or services to be purchased, taking into account applicable codes, standards and regulations, - Amending these specifications to take into account accepted deviations proposed by the provider, - Defining technical criteria for the initial and subsequent provider evaluations, - Expressing a documented conclusion (favorable, favorable subject to certain conditions, unfavorable) on provider technical evaluations, - Establishing the type and the extent of controls for products and services, - Involving a multidisciplinary team when needed, - Review controllers performance and enhance loops performance.
3 Reliability Improvements
Participate to RCA analysis when required and implement actions in his field of activities. Participate in the vulnerability studies. Suggest improvements, participate in the MOC process and implement process control system modifications. Propose and prepare modifications to improve reliability and efficiency of the plant as well as to increase the automation level of the units and to decrease the number o 4 CMMS (Maximo) The Process Control Engineer is the Maximo Champion which means that he is the reference on site for the CMMS. He will be in contact with Maximo responsible on zone level. He supports Maximo users to maximize the system contribution to the maintenance management effectively. He ensure that people are trained for Maximo and the CMMS system works properly. He monitors and evaluates the quality of data that users input in Maximo and provides necessary feedback.
5 Training + OTS The Process Control Engineer is the owner of the Operator Training Simulator (OTS). He will support the operation personel when they used the OTS for plant manipulation and operation. He maintains the OTS including documentation and back-ups. The Process Control Engineer participates to the training of the E&I technicians for the Process The Process Control Engineer participates to the training of the E&I technicians for the Process control systems (hardware and software).
6 Reporting Daily,weekly,monthly preventive maintenance and event report. Report and manage system modify or enhancement history.
