About the role
The Strategic Global Commodity Buyer (Direct Materials) will play a key role in defining and executing the global supplier strategy for the company’s locations worldwide. You will ensure that all suppliers meet the company’s commercial and contractual requirements, negotiating yearly prices, contracts, and other key terms. This position will be the first point of escalation for any supplier-related global issues, working closely with regional procurement teams and cross-functional departments like sales, engineering, and quality to ensure alignment on new technologies, suppliers, and cost-saving opportunities. Responsabilities:
Develop and execute supplier strategies for all global locations, ensuring a diverse and competitive supplier panel across regions.
Collaborate with sales, technical teams, and regional procurement teams to ensure that future needs, such as new technologies and supplier onboarding, are met.
Manage commodity AOP (Annual Operating Plan) to meet key targets such as year-over-year (YOY) productivity improvements, optimizing working capital, and efficient Cap Ex utilization.
Lead price negotiations and establish supplier agreements, including general terms and conditions, consignment stock agreements, payment terms, raw material agreements, and Fx indexation agreements.
Support regional procurement teams in addressing supplier-related issues, taking ownership of comprehensive supplier performance.
Work cross-functionally with suppliers, engineering, and quality teams to identify and implement cost-saving initiatives and innovations.
Candidate Profile:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, supply chain, purchasing, operations, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum 3-5 years in Strategic Sourcing or a similar procurement role, preferably in the automotive industry.
Skills:
Fluent in English; knowledge of German is a plus.
Strong negotiation skills and experience in contract administration.
Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving capabilities.
Ability to work in a multicultural, cross-functional environment and across different time zones.
Leadership and team-building skills with the ability to motivate and inspire.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with a tech-savvy approach to procurement processes.
