OUR PARTNER: Our partner, ABN AMRO Clearing, is a global leader in the domain of clearing, offering access to a wide range of listed instruments on markets across the globe. IT is at the heart of their organization with more than 30 different product teams and 10 different platform teams that are trying to build the best products & services for their customers. Their presence in important financial centers like Amsterdam, Chicago, Sydney, Singapore, Tokyo Hong Kong, London, Sao Paulo, Frankfurt and Iasi, allows them to effectively serve clients worldwide and maintain close proximity to their diverse customer base.
THE ROLE INVOLVES: Our partner is working on modernizing its data pipelines and structures, as well as ensuring that their clients will have a future-proof reporting landscape to be used. As they process over 6 billion trades a year (not taking into account all the other data that comes along with it) they have to work with state-of-the-art applications to be able to keep up. To do this, they're starting the development of new data pipelines with the support of both AWS native services (like AWS Athena, AWS Redshift and AWS Glue) and external services like DBT. For this, we're looking for multiple AWS-minded Data Engineers ready to:
Support the Clearing Data Platform, Reporting Platform, Client Reporting or Regulatory Reporting teams with setting up future-proof data pipelines.
Collaborate with developers on software requirements.
Encourage and build automated processes wherever possible.
React quickly to feedback to continuously improve processes.
Informally train and share their Data Engineering knowledge within the team.
Build a bridge to the cloud platform teams.
TECHNICAL PLAYGROUND:
4+ years of experience as a Data Engineer
Experience with working on AWS, preferably with the following services & infra:
AWS CDK
AWS Athena
AWS Glue
AWS S3
AWS MWAA
Experience working with source control tools like GIT
Experience with automation of your deployments in AWS Code Commit and AWS Code Pipeline
Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in always-availability services
Setup and configure CI/CD pipelines in a Microservices architecture landscape
Experience with creating Docker containers
AWS developer or relevant certifications obtained would be a plus
NICE TO HAVE:
Awareness of critical concepts in Dev Ops and Agile principles
A demonstrated record of achievement in large technical (migration) projects
Ability to keep up with software and cloud development trends and innovation
Understanding of financial services and risk management in general
University degree in Computer Science/Engineering
SOFT SKILLS:
Fluent English, with good written and verbal communication skills
Strong engineering instinct (do the right thing), a deep understanding of computer science
Strong interpersonal and assertive communication skills, great team member
Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
