Job Summary: We are seeking a talented and skilled Demi Chef de Partie with expertise in Continental Cuisine to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will assist the Chef de Partie in preparing and presenting high-quality dishes, ensuring that the kitchen operations run smoothly. The role requires attention to detail, creativity, and strong knowledge of Continental cooking techniques, ingredients, and presentation. Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of a variety of Continental dishes, following the restaurant's recipes and guidelines.
Ensure high standards of food quality, taste, and presentation in line with the restaurant's reputation.
Follow instructions from the Chef de Partie and Sous Chef to prepare ingredients, cook dishes, and manage section tasks efficiently.
Ensure that the section is organized, stocked, and ready for service at all times.
Assist in the planning of daily menu items and specials by suggesting new dishes or improvements to existing ones.
Ensure that all food prepared is consistent in flavor, texture, and appearance, adhering to the restaurant’s high standards.
Check that all ingredients meet the required quality and freshness before use.
Ensure compliance with portion sizes and presentation techniques.
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards within the kitchen, ensuring adherence to food safety and sanitation protocols.
Follow all health and safety regulations regarding food handling, storage, and equipment usage.
Report any maintenance or safety issues to the Chef de Partie or Sous Chef immediately.
Work closely with the Chef de Partie and other kitchen staff to ensure a smooth and efficient kitchen operation.
Assist in the training of junior kitchen staff, such as Commis Chefs, and provide guidance when necessary.
Contribute to a positive team environment by showing strong communication and collaboration skills.
Assist in monitoring and managing stock levels, ensuring all ingredients and materials are ordered and replenished as needed.
Minimize waste by following correct portion control and storage procedures.
Participate in regular stock checks and inventory counts.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a professional kitchen, with a focus on Continental Cuisine.
Culinary degree or equivalent certification in culinary arts is preferred.
Strong knowledge of Continental cooking techniques and recipes.
Excellent knife skills and proficiency in using kitchen equipment.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines during peak service hours.
Creative flair with a passion for food and attention to detail.
Proficiency in English is essential; knowledge of other languages is a plus.
Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced kitchen.
Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and menu items.
Demonstrates strong work ethic, punctuality, and reliability.
