Job Summary: The Waste Water Operator is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and monitoring of wastewater treatment facilities and equipment. This role ensures that wastewater is treated effectively and safely, complying with regulatory standards and environmental regulations. Key Responsibilities: 1. Operation of Treatment Equipment: o Operate and monitor machinery and equipment used in wastewater treatment, including pumps, valves, and filters. o Adjust controls and settings to optimize performance and efficiency. o Perform routine inspections and maintenance of equipment. 2. Monitoring and Testing: o Collect and analyze samples of wastewater to monitor quality and chemical levels. o Record and interpret data related to water quality, flow rates, and operational performance. o Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding wastewater discharge and treatment. 3. Maintenance and Repairs: o Conduct regular maintenance on equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance. o Identify and troubleshoot issues with machinery and treatment processes. o Coordinate repairs and replacement of faulty components as needed. 4. Regulatory Compliance: o Ensure all operations comply with environmental regulations and safety standards. o Prepare and maintain documentation and reports for regulatory agencies. o Participate in audits and inspections as required. 5. Emergency Response: o Respond to and manage emergency situations, such as equipment failures or spills. o Implement corrective actions to address any immediate issues affecting the treatment process. 6. Record-Keeping and Reporting: o Maintain accurate records of operational activities, maintenance, and inspections. o Prepare reports on system performance, incidents, and compliance. 7. Team Collaboration and Training: o Work collaboratively with other operators, maintenance staff, and management. o Provide training and guidance to new or less experienced staff members. Qualifications: · Education: Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or Indusctrial Engineering. Additional certifications in wastewater treatment or related fields are preferred. · Experience: Previous experience in wastewater treatment or a related field is highly desirable. · Licenses: Licensed Chemical or Industrial Engineering, and/or Chemical Technician. · Skills: o Strong understanding of wastewater treatment processes and equipment. o Ability to operate and troubleshoot various types of machinery. o Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and interpreting technical data. o Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
