Telecommunications Engineer

Unique Cabling Solutions Limited in Auckland is currently recruiting for the Full-time, permanent position of Telecommunications Engineer.
JOB DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES:
  • Responsible for planning, designing, building, configuring, and commissioning telecommunications systems, devices, and products.
  • Design long-haul transmission systems, including SDH/PDH nodes, MPLS TP node IP/MPLS, Gigabit Ethernet switches, Telephone System, PABX, LAN System, CCTV, Access Control System, Structured Cabling System, FO Cabling, and Telephone cabling.
  • Prepare engineering documents such as block diagrams, functional design specifications, datasheets, equipment layouts, interconnection drawings, termination drawings, and cabinet drawings.
  • Conduct testing and troubleshooting of telecommunications systems.
  • Conduct routine maintenance of telecommunications systems to ensureoptimal performance and reliability.
  • Monitor telecommunications systems for updates, upgrades, enhancements,preventive maintenance, and the need for new systems.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to customers and end-users.
  • Execute telecommunications projects, both standalone and integrated.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment inventory and maintenanceactivities.
  • Evaluate and procure new products and services from vendors.
  • Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, policies, and procedures in theprovision of telecommunications systems.
  • Prepare and interpret specifications, drawings, and regulations for the use oftelecommunications equipment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external vendors to implementand optimize communication solutions.
  • Develop, implement, test, and troubleshoot communication systems using IPnetworking, switching and routing, firewalls, gateways, and modems.
  • Conduct site surveys and assess network infrastructure needs.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of various communication protocols such as TCP/IP, MPLS, VPNs, IPSec, Qo S, TDM, and Wireless Technologies.
  • Stay updated with the latest telecommunication technologies and industrytrends.
  • Ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of telecommunicationsnetworks.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to telecommunicationequipment and systems.
  • Provide training for users of new equipment.
  • Prepare and present reports and proposals.

Pay: $32.00 – $45.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 37.50 per week
