Mō te Tūranga | About the Role
As the Technical financial accounting specialist reporting into the Governance and Financial Control manager, you’ll provide technical accounting expertise to ensure IAG’s financial reporting needs are met. You’ll research and advise on financial reporting requirements, collaborate with finance and actuarial colleagues to contribute to IFRS-compliant monthly results, and support the corporate reporting team in improving financial reporting.
Additionally, you’ll identify RBNZ solvency impacts, work with an IFRS17 bridge model, contribute to digital finance programmes, educate business managers on IFRS compliance, monitor regulatory developments, and contribute to the preparation of half-year and year-end financial statements.
This is a permanent, full-time hybrid role and while Auckland is the preferred location, candidates can also be based throughout New Zealand.
Ōu Pūkenga | About You
To be successful in the role, you’ll ideally have the following:
- CA qualified or similar professional qualification
- Solid demonstrated experience in understanding and implementing new and challenging accounting standards
- Internal and external financial accounting and reporting experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex accounting and reporting matters to non-finance colleagues and management
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks in New Zealand
- Familiarity with current insurance accounting is a distinct advantage
- Well-organised, able to handle pressure and meet deadlines
Strong analytical skills with a solution orientated mindset.
