We are seeking applicants with strong connections to Pasifika communities and an in-depth understanding of Pasifika culture, to provide support, advice and mentorship to students throughout their journey with us.
You will be committed to undertaking research-informed teaching, providing administrative and managerial leadership to academic and pastoral initiatives for Pasifika law students, and contributing to undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Pacific-themed law and core law courses.
The Faculty of Law invites applications from aspiring Pasifika legal academics for the position of Susuga Faiako/Professional Teaching Fellow. This is full-time (40 hours pw), one year fixed term position.
Remuneration is $100,696 per annum (PTF1).

He kōrero mōu | About you

The successful candidate will have an undergraduate law degree (LLB or equivalent) and ideally a commitment to pursue further academic qualifications. A postgraduate degree in Law or another discipline will be advantageous. The successful candidate will be expected to teach into at least one of the compulsory courses of the LLB, either as a lecturer or as a tutor. The Faculty may provide support for candidates who wish to study towards a postgraduate degree in Law.
You will have a proven aptitude for supporting Pasifika people and a deep understanding of Pacific cultural values. This could include experience in providing culturally appropriate education, pastoral care, and assistance to Pasifika peoples. It may also involve participation in and service to Pasifika communities through local programmes, faith communities, and associations. Additionally, you may have demonstrated leadership and experience representing Pacific families and communities at local, national, or international levels. We recognise the impact that active community service and family support roles can have on personal and professional achievements.
We are looking for someone who is highly motivated by mentoring and making a difference within the Pasifika student community and helping our students contribute to a future legal landscape, underpinned by a deeper understanding and connectedness to Pasifika people, culture and values. You will be given the opportunity to pursue your professional goals and enhance your areas of expertise. The Faculty is committed to providing the chosen candidate with the full support required to succeed in this role relative to their aspirations and academic level.
Part-time hours and job-sharing arrangements may be available by negotiation.
