Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity We are excited to announce the opening of our state-of-the-art Recreation Centre in late 2024, a hub for sport, health and wellbeing on our campus. As we embark on this new chapter and build a new team, we seek an experienced Senior Lifeguard. As a Senior Lifeguard, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of all patrons using our pool facilities. Your primary responsibility will be to support the Aquatics Team Leader in maintaining a safe, fun, and enjoyable environment for all pool users. The main responsibilities of these roles include:
Providing exceptional customer service to our diverse university community
General Lifeguarding duties and supporting the Team Leader with day-to-day operations
Ensuring pool safety and H&S standards are met

Hours This is a full-time (37.5 hrs/week), permanent role with the following work pattern:
Tuesdays: 5.30 am - 1.30 pm
Wednesdays: 5.30 am - 1.30 pm
Thursdays: 5.30 am - 1.30 pm
Fridays: 5.30 am - 1.30 pm
Saturdays: 6.30 am-2.30 pm
As our centre opens 7 days a week, the ability to work early and late shifts, as well as weekends, is crucial in this role. The salary range for this role is $26.00 to $32.67 per hour, depending on skills and experience. He kōrero mōu | About you Our ideal candidate will have a passion for lifeguarding, customer experience, and a dedication to creating a safe, positive and inclusive environment for all university community members. They will also bring the following skills and experience:
A Minimum of 3 years experience as a Lifeguard working in a similar role
Pool Lifeguard Practicing certificate and First Aid certificate is highly advantageous
Outstanding customer services and interpersonal skills
Strong communication skills with an eye for health and safety
