Supervisor - Great Escape Café | Christchurch Health Campus

Mō te tūnga - About the Role
  • 1.0FTE (40 hours a week), Permanent role
  • Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm (Every fourth week will include working Saturday-Sunday 8:30am-5:00pm, with days off being Thursday and Friday for that week.)
We are looking for an inspiring, retail focussed supervisor to lead and motivate the Great Escape Caf team at Christchurch Health Campus.
Our team works within a fast-paced environment running 7 days per week, 365 days per year. This role will include working throughout the Christmas/New Year period, including Christmas Day.
In this role you will be responsible for:
  • Complying with food control plan, hygiene and safety standards and code of conduct
  • Effectively lead the team to provide a quality retail experience
  • Resourcefully solving any issues that arise, while communicating this with the manager
  • Maintaining a positive and professional approach with co-workers
  • Maintain site costs such as goods, waste and labour
  • Providing impeccable customer service
  • Producing highest quality hot beverages
  • Preparing and presenting food
  • Carrying out general caf and cleaning duties
Full training will be provided to all new staff joining our team.
Salary starting rate $28.00 per hour. Based on the E tū Service and Food Workers collective agreement.
Ko wai koe - About You
The successful candidate will have at least 2 years - experience operating a large-scale hospitality operation, will be keenly focussed on improving customer experience and who has strong people management skills.
The Great Escape Caf is a dynamic, ever-changing environment, and the supervisor needs to be able to respond appropriately, bringing their exceptional skill and passion for food and service to our team.
The successful candidate will be required to work across multiple work areas and complete a variety of tasks.

  • At least 2 years - experience in a supervisory or management role within a large-scale hospitality environment
  • Proven track record of successful people management
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Adaptable nature - able to work well under pressure and change direction as necessary
  • Experience in cash handling and reconciliation
  • Passionate about people and food
  • NZQA Food Handling Cert Unit 167/ 168
