Senior Engagement Advisor (Fixed Term)

  • Design and support the delivery of effective approaches for the Department of Conservation's engagement with staff, external stakeholders and iwi
  • $92,450 - $116,985 pro-rata
  • Two fixed term roles available until 30/06/2025 (approximately 9 months). 1 full time (40 hours p/w) and 1 part time (20 hours p/w)

He angitūtanga | About the role
Join Te Papa Atawhai DOC to help us protect Aotearoa New Zealand's treasured conservation lands, waters and wildlife, and enable New Zealanders and international visitors to enjoy our special places.
The two senior engagement advisor positions will support DOC to engage well with staff, external stakeholders and iwi partners on issues related to our visitor and cultural heritage programmes. The role is perfect for a person who knows how to design and deliver engagement and consultation approaches to support key areas of work. The position will include:

  • Working collaboratively with others to design engagement approaches to help achieve project outcomes
  • Preparing engagement and stakeholder relationship plans
  • Advising and supporting teams to ensure effective delivery of engagement plans
  • Identifying and managing engagement risks and opportunities
  • Building and maintaining relationships

We are keen to hear from you if you:
  • are great at building relationships and engaging others in issues, solving problems and delivering solutions
  • are an excellent writer and able to communicate effectively with diverse audiences, including Ministers and senior leadership teams
  • have experience in developing engagement and stakeholder plans
  • have a good understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and experience in engaging with iwi
  • have experience working within government and the public sector.
  • have a reputation as a capable, can-do, well organised and trusted professional
  • have a tertiary and other relevant qualifications in communications and engagement
Mō te tīma | About the team
You will join our national Engagement Team and report to the Engagement Manager. The team provides strategic direction, tools, best practice guidance and quality assurance for DOC's engagement work. You will also work closely with several other teams across DOC.
