Payroll Processing Officer

New Zealand Police is seeking an experienced Payroll Processing Officer to be part of our busy centralised Payroll Team located at Police National Headquarters in Wellington. We are looking for an agile team member who can hit the ground running and support NZ Police in the delivery of accurate and timely payroll services.

You will be working with a hard-working and enthusiastic team who are part of a high performing People and Capability Group function. You will be responsible for end-to-end payroll processing on a fortnightly basis, preparing and reconciling payments, reporting, and providing high level support to the wider Payroll team. You will also assist with the auditing of the payroll to ensure that the fortnightly payroll is processed accurately and efficiently.

You must be able to build relationships within the payroll department as well as across the wider Police Whanau, be self-motivated, organised and have genuine eye for detail.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Use of SAP to manage payroll requests * Monitor and review payroll transactions for accuracy and compliance * Assist with the delivery of pay finalisation and Off cycle pay runs, including preparation of supporting documentation and reporting * Work collaboratively with other functional areas both within and external to People & Capability Group * Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

  • Understanding of NZ payroll processing systems or alike (ideally SAP Success Factors) would be an advantage. * Have a sound understanding and demonstrated knowledge of payroll related legislation including but not limited to the Holidays Act, Employment Relations Act, the Wages Protection Act and the Privacy Act * Proficient user of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook - ideally be able to do vlookup's, formulas and pivot tables * Ability to prioritise and manage workload under pressure to meet deadlines * A continuous improvement mind-set; always looking to improve processes * Excellent communication and relationship management abilities * Team player

Utu ā-tau | Salary

This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $69,337 and $72,430 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
