As we are an acute service, you will be working with a diverse group of patients requiring various levels of support. Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team Te Whare Ahuru provides services for people experiencing an episode of acute mental illness that requires a safe environment with intensive nursing and medical treatment. The team offers specialist services for people with moderate to severe mental health problems, and offer assessment, treatment and support to assist the individual and their whanau and other support people in their recovery journey with the aim of supporting people back to having their health care provided in primary health care services. The focus of the service is on providing evidenced based treatment interventions for those people who present with more complex needs and higher risks. The multi-disciplinary team consists of Psychiatrists, registrars, house surgeons, occupational therapists, social workers, nurses and mental health support workers. Experience Essential
Interest in the relevant Mental health area
Mental health OT clinical experience
Knowledge of MOHOST assessments
Understanding of the needs of the particular clients within setting

Research and audit experience
Experience in Service or treatment audit
Knowledge of trauma informed care
Demonstrated involvement in service development
To write group protocols in collaboration with others.

Knowledge of risk assessment and risk management in clinical practice
Understanding and clinical application of Model of Human Occupation and or other relevant models of practice.
Able to communicate and negotiate effectively with staff at all levels.

Good motivational techniques and abilities.
Clear effective planning and decision-making skills.
Able to maintain the profile of occupational therapy within a multidisciplinary setting.
Able to establish good working relationships across the organisation and other agencies.
