Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Computer Science & Software Engineering

The Department of Computer Science & Software Engineering at Auckland University of Technology (AUT), part of the School of Engineering, Computer, and Mathematical Sciences within the Faculty of Design and Creative Technologies, invites applications for a full-time, permanent Lecturer/Senior Lecturer position specialising in networks, cybersecurity, and digital forensics. The successful candidate will focus on subjects such as Cybercrime and Cybersecurity, Digital Forensics Tools and Techniques, Network Security and Forensics, and Networks and the Internet.

We seek candidates with a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field, who have demonstrated research excellence in cybersecurity, digital forensics, networks, or related areas. Ideal candidates will have substantial experience in both research and teaching, along with relevant experience in academia and industry. Proficiency in current programming languages, advanced cybersecurity technologies, and network security practices is essential to contribute to the department's innovation and growth.
The appointed individual will deliver high-quality teaching and research outputs, contributing to both undergraduate and postgraduate education. This role involves developing and administering academic programs, integrating practical labs and workshops, and mentoring junior faculty. The successful candidate will also ensure the academic rigour and quality of sessional staff and course delivery while actively engaging in research, potentially securing external funding, and advancing knowledge in the fields of networks, cybersecurity, and digital forensics.
This position emphasises academic leadership and a solid commitment to integrating Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles into curriculum development and the university's broader mission. Opportunities for short-term teaching assignments at AUT's international partner institutions may also be available.
The anticipated start date for this position is 01 February 2025. Salary and workload will be commensurate with the successful candidate's qualifications, experience, and contributions.
