Knowledge and Information Adviser

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

In this role you will join a collaborative and friendly team of professionals who are proactively working to grow the Ministry’s ability to access and make effective use of its information in all their forms, through quality advice, training and guidance, and the provision and maintenance of information and records management systems and processes.

Some of the areas you would work on in this role include:
  • Using your knowledge and information management skills to support decision making in relation to information in electronic and paper formats * Appraising records against agreed retention and disposal authorities * Applying your knowledge and skills to maintain and improve the quality of knowledge and information systems and processes

The salary range for this role is between $70,784 to midpoint $78,649 total fixed remuneration, negotiable depending on skills and experience. The total remuneration is inclusive of our 3% Kiwi Saver employer contribution.

We’d like to hear from you if you have experience as an information management professional with a ‘can do’ attitude and a strong customer service focus.

In particular we will be looking for you to demonstrate the following on your application:
  • A tertiary qualification in information management, or similar * Sound knowledge of relevant legislation and compliance obligations, including the Public Records Act, Privacy Act and Protective Security Requirements * Strong knowledge of standard good practice information and records management practices, processes and mechanisms * Strong Microsoft Office skills * Strong Share Point skills * Excellent oral and written communications skills * Strong interpersonal skills
Ideally you will also have a good understanding of tikanga (Māori customs and protocols), with the ability to weave te ao Māori (the Māori worldview) into your work. If you are just starting on this journey that’s OK too – as long as you have a willingness to learn and a desire to develop your cultural capability.
