Delta is recruiting for a qualified Cable Jointer who is looking for a varied, exciting and challenging role within the Electricity Distribution Industry. You will be a self-starter who works well in a small team - someone who's adept at trouble-shooting and coming up with solutions.
This role requires participation in an after-hours fault roster.
Responsibilities in the role:
- Emergency response on customer distribution and sub-transmission cable assets.
- Jointing, installations, and terminations of underground HV/LV power cables (PILC, XLPE, PVC), including OH terminations in various cable technologies, e.g., PILC and pressure cables.
- HV cable testing.
- Operating heavy plant and machinery, thus holding a Class 2 New Zealand or international equivalent driver's license would be advantageous.
- Adhering to Company Health, Safety and Environment procedures as well as statutory requirements.
- Emergency response on customer distribution and sub-transmission cable assets.
About the role:
- This is a full-time, permanent role working a minimum of 40 hours per week.
- Overtime is paid after 40 hours at a rate of time and a half.
- The wage range for this role is $37-$45/hour (gross) - dependent upon qualifications and experience.
- This role is primarily based Cromwell, Central Otago, in the South Island of New Zealand however travel to the Nelson/Tasman Region may be required from time to time to assist with outages and/or emergency work. What you need to succeed:

Full Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) Registration and current Practicing License
or
EWRB Limited Practicing License
or
a letter from the EWRB stating that you are eligible to apply for a EWRB Limited Practicing License.

Full Class 1 New Zealand
or
international equivalent driver’s license.
- 3+ years of cable installation, jointing and terminating experience with polymeric cables, with operating voltages of 11k V and above within the Electricity Distribution Industry.
- Experience working with higher voltage cables, e.g., 33k V and above would be advantageous (but not essential).
