The Mental Health and Addiction Services in Northland are seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Psychiatry of Older Persons Service (POPS).
The Psychiatric Service for Older People is a community based mental health team providing services primarily to the population 65 years and older throughout Northland. This role is based in Whangarei but may also include travel to rural clinics.
Te Whatu Ora – Te Tai Tokerau (formerly Northland District Health Board) provides public health services across the Northland region, from north of Wellsford to Cape Reinga serving a growing population of 190,000. Whangārei Hospital is the largest hospital in Northland providing secondary care services, supported by three rural hospitals in Kaitaia; Kawakawa, and Dargaville.

To be considered you must have or be eligible for specialist registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) in either a vocational or locum tenens – special purpose Psychiatry scope of practice. FRANZCP and / or post graduate qualifications are advantageous however we are happy to hear from those near completion of their studies. If you are currently overseas / not yet registered, we can assist you with the application process to obtain MCNZ registration. Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand is also an Approved Accredited Employer by New Zealand Immigration.
