A Māori whakataukī (proverb) to reflect a passionate and visionary leader: "Ko te rangatira, kāore e waiho i te moana hei tirohanga noa iho, engari ka ārahi i tō iwi kia rere i ngā ngaru o te angitū." The leader does not leave the ocean as a mere sight of challenging waves but leads their people to ride the waves of success. This whakataukī (proverb) speaks to a leader who is not content with observing challenges, but actively leads and empowers their community (Māori, Pasifika, and others) toward positive change and growth. It symbolizes vision, action, and the courage to face challenges head-on for collective success.
