Based in East Tamaki -Auckland, this new opportunity will be a fulfilling 12 months’ Fixed Term Contract for you to challenge the status quo and create lasting improvements!
The role
Reporting to the Business Excellence Manager, you will be pivotal in embedding operational excellence across our Auckland Region Contracting teams. You'll focus on management practices that build a culture of continuous improvement and excellence. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Facilitate Leadership Engagement: Work closely with senior and middle management to instil a mindset of operational excellence. You'll guide leaders on how to adopt best practices and cascade them throughout their teams
- Lead and Mentor Teams: Drive change by coaching and mentoring teams across the business, helping them to embrace Operational Excellence principles and use these tools effectively in their day-to-day operations
- Facilitate Improvement Workshops: Lead improvement workshops, brainstorming sessions, and process improvement events to empower teams to solve problems, optimise processes, and continuously improve performance
- Embed Change: Develop and execute change management strategies that ensure smooth transitions during process improvements. You’ll work with stakeholders to ensure that new processes are fully understood, adopted, and sustained
- Create Operational Excellence Champions: Work alongside the Business Excellence Team in building internal capability by training staff in methodologies like Lean Six Sigma, coaching Yellow Belt practitioners, and ensuring they have the tools they need to succeed long-term
- Foster a Culture of Continuous Improvement: Work alongside the Business Excellence Team to embed operational excellence as a core way of working across the Auckland region.

About you
You’ll be someone who is proactive, analytical, and a true problem solver with good stakeholder management skills. You’ll have:
- Experience in operational excellence and process improvement
- Either 5-7 years’ experience as Lean Six Sigma Green Belt OR 3-5 years’ experience as Lean Six Signa Black Belt
- A solid background in data analysis, process mapping and other problem-solving tools
- Great communication skills and the ability to lead workshops and facilitate change
- A passion for innovation and continuous improvement
- Experience in the utilities or construction industry (a plus)
